The game is visually stunning, capturing the essence of the anime with its impressive graphics and character variety. However, aggressive monetization practices and lackluster story mode are major points of frustration for many players. While the combat system is fun and engaging for fans, it poses a challenge for newcomers due to its complexity. Nostalgia drives interest, but technical issues and balancing problems often detract from the overall experience.

Positive Points

The game is visually stunning with impressive graphics and animations that are very faithful to the Dragon Ball anime style.

The combat system is generally described as fun, chaotic, and engaging, providing a fast-paced experience that appeals to fans of the series.

There is a huge roster of characters, spanning across various Dragon Ball series including Z, Super, and the movies, which allows for diverse gameplay experiences.

The game evokes a sense of nostalgia, reminding players of the classic Budokai Tenkaichi series with modern updates and enhancements.

Negative Points

There is significant criticism regarding the aggressive monetization practices, with many players upset about DLC that should have been part of the base game.

The story mode is considered lackluster, with poorly executed cutscenes and a convoluted narrative structure that fails to engage players.

The game's AI and balancing are frequently criticized, with complaints about unfair difficulty spikes and a lack of meaningful progression in CPU challenges.

Many reviews mention the game's various technical issues, including lag, poor optimization, and online connectivity problems, which negatively impact the gaming experience.

Mixed Points

While the game offers a large roster of characters, many players feel that the character variety is deceptive, with numerous transformations counting as separate characters leading to repetition.

The game has a compelling combat system for fans, but the complexity and high skill ceiling can be frustrating for casual players.

Common Themes

Nostalgia for the Budokai Tenkaichi series is a strong draw for this game, attracting both old and new Dragon Ball fans.

Players are consistently displeased with the game's monetization strategy, feeling that it capitalizes too heavily on DLC and cuts from the main game content.

The visual aspect of the game receives consistent praise, which makes the game attractive despite its other shortcomings.
