The general sentiment of the reviews is overwhelmingly positive, with many players praising the beautiful art style and engaging storyline. The game integrates typical Wuxia themes well, providing players with a captivating RPG experience. However, some players noted that the clunky user interface and issues with missable content can hinder the overall experience. Despite minor flaws, the game is celebrated for its depth and ambitious storytelling, making it a highly regarded title among fans of the genre.

Positive Points

The game offers a beautiful and immersive 2D-HD art style reminiscent of Octopath Traveler with vibrant and detailed environments.

Players appreciate the engaging and multi-layered storytelling, especially with its rich Wuxia themes and character development.

The combat system is praised for offering both turn-based and real-time modes, providing flexibility in gameplay styles.

Wandering Sword provides a wide array of martial arts techniques and skills, allowing for significant character customization and growth.

The game includes substantial content and updates, with free DLCs that expand the story and world, enhancing replayability.

Negative Points

The user interface is described as clunky and difficult to navigate, particularly when using a controller.

Many players highlight issues with missable content due to vague objectives or lack of guidance, which can cause frustration.

The English translation is noted as inconsistent, with some dialogues and descriptions losing nuance or appearing awkward.

The late-game combat balance can make battles feel too easy, diminishing the challenge for players.

Mixed Points

While the game's complexity and lack of hand-holding are appealing to some, they can also lead to confusion and a steep learning curve.

The decision to limit players to joining a specific martial arts sect is seen as aligning with the story but restricts player choice.

Common Themes

There is frequent mention of the game's blend of martial arts and RPG elements, creating an engaging mix that captures Wuxia fantasy well.

Players often discuss the character Yuwen Yi and his journey of growth and exploration in the martial arts world as a compelling narrative.

Exploration and recruiting a variety of companions with unique abilities are popular features that enhance the player's experience.

Many reviews mention a love for the strategic aspect of martial arts combat mixed with RPG progression, despite occasional balancing issues.
