The game's combat, story, and art style are met with significant praise for capturing the charm and nostalgia of Paper Mario. The soundtrack and writing enrich the experience, delivering humor and depth. A few minor gameplay mechanics receive mixed responses, with some players struggling with difficulty in combat, yet the inclusion of adjustable settings helps mitigate this for many. However, pacing issues in certain areas draw some criticism. Overall, Escape from Ever After is warmly recommended, particularly for fans of classic whimsical RPGs.
