The general sentiment of the reviews is mixed. Players express nostalgia and appreciation for the return to classic mechanics and character charm from older titles. However, there is significant criticism regarding the game's performance, particularly on devices like the Steam Deck, and frustration with some design choices such as character voice repetition and control layouts. While long-time fans of the series find enjoyment in the familiar gameplay, they also hope for patches to resolve technical issues.

Positive Points

The game is praised for returning to the classic 'Hot Shots Golf' format, which many players find nostalgic and enjoyable.

Zany characters and humorous dialogue, reminiscent of older titles, are highlighted as appealing features.

Gameplay mechanics such as controls and physics are generally appreciated and considered true to the series' roots.

Players appreciate the availability of multiple characters and unique character stories, adding depth to the single-player experience.

Negative Points

Performance issues are a major concern, especially on the Steam Deck, with frequent mentions of poor optimization leading to low frame rates.

The repetitive and often annoying character voice lines detracted from the experience for some players.

Some players are frustrated with the cumbersome menu navigation, particularly the poorly located 'Quit Game' option.

Graphical issues such as washed-out colors, dated visuals, and inconsistent quality were noted, with comparisons to older generation games.

Mixed Points

While some players enjoy the return to classic controls and shot mechanics, others find changes to camera angles and controls to be frustrating.

The game's difficulty was noted as either being more challenging than previous versions, or players felt it was too hard due to AI behavior.

Common Themes

Nostalgia plays a significant role in the enjoyment of the game, with many players drawing comparisons to past titles in the series.

Performance concerns are prevalent across reviews, with calls for optimization patches to improve frame rates and reduce stuttering.

The move away from open world elements present in the PS4 rendition of Everybody's Golf is a point of contention among fans.
