The general sentiment among reviews is mixed, with a balance between enjoyment and dissatisfaction. Nostalgia plays a significant role in how players perceive the game, and many enjoy the large roster of characters and classic LEGO gameplay. However, technical issues like bugs and crashes detract from the experience, and the shift in setting and DLC requirement contribute to a divided opinion. Overall, while there are elements that players love, the execution, particularly around bugs and game structure, could be improved.

Positive Points

The game is praised for its nostalgia factor, particularly among those who played it during childhood.

Many reviewers enjoyed the large roster of characters from the DC universe, including lesser-known characters.

The game is noted for maintaining a fun and enjoyable classic LEGO gameplay style with added humor.

Players appreciated the cooperative play aspect, which is suitable for playing with family or friends.

The game includes a variety of characters and suits, allowing for diverse gameplay mechanics.

Negative Points

Many players experienced numerous bugs, crashes, and soft locks, which hindered gameplay.

The open world and hub designs, particularly the Lantern planets, received criticism for being confusing and less engaging than previous LEGO Batman games.

Players reported issues with specific in-game mechanics, such as suits and controls, being unnecessarily complicated or glitchy.

The game was seen as less imaginative in its level design compared to other LEGO games, with a repetitive structure.

Mixed Points

While some players appreciated the inclusion of DLC for added story and characters, others found the requirement of DLC for 100% completion frustrating.

The shift from a Gotham-centric setting to a broader space adventure was met with mixed feelings, with some enjoying it and others preferring the traditional Gotham setting.

Common Themes

Nostalgia plays a significant role in player enjoyment, with many reflecting on their experiences playing earlier LEGO games.

Technical issues are a recurring theme, with a substantial number of players encountering game-breaking bugs.

The extensive character roster is both a highlight and a critique, praised for variety but criticized for some characters feeling redundant.
