The story and narrative elements of the expansion are appreciated for their depth and potential to set up future developments, but the repetitive use of Matterspark and tiring mission structures have drawn criticism from players. While many see the systematic changes as a positive step for the game's future, others question their necessity. Overall, Edge of Fate is seen as a mixed experience—providing intriguing story content while falling short of player expectations with its gameplay execution.
