Activision's practices

The reviews for this game express a sentiment towards its technical issues and Activision's business practices. While the campaign and graphics offer nostalgic value and aesthetic improvements, the crashing issues, dead multiplayer, and lack of proper support and optimization significantly detract from the overall experience. Players are particularly critical of Activision's decision to shut down modifications that could enhance the game's playability and community engagement.

Positive Points

Many players have praised the graphics and visual improvements in the remaster, noting that the game looks great on modern hardware.

The campaign is frequently mentioned as a highlight, with many reviews citing its nostalgic value and iconic missions as key strengths.

Some players enjoy the challenge presented by the veteran difficulty and the achievements that are obtainable in the game.

There is appreciation for the option to set up private matches with bots for those looking to enjoy multiplayer components without other players.

Negative Points

A significant number of reviews report frequent crashing issues, especially during specific missions like 'The Bog', which disrupts gameplay.

Players have encountered severe technical problems, including long loading times, compatibility issues, and need for convoluted workarounds just to launch the game.

A common complaint is about the multiplayer being inactive or dead on Steam, which diminishes its appeal as a remastered multiplayer experience.

Activision's business practices have been criticized, particularly their handling of mods and price points, which players find greedy and anti-consumer.

Mixed Points

While the remaster includes enhancements, some players feel the changes are minimal and do not significantly improve upon the original experience.

The price is often mentioned as not worth the product provided, with some seeing value only if purchased on sale due to the technical issues and lack of multiplayer activity.

Common Themes

Nostalgia is a strong theme in the reviews, with many players reminiscing about the original game and seeking to relive those experiences.

The community is frustrated with Activision for shutting down mods that could have revived interest in the game and provided additional content.

Technical issues are widespread, with many reviews describing the game as unplayable without extensive user fixes.

There is a shared sentiment that Activision prioritizes profit over community satisfaction and game quality, impacting their reputation negatively.
