Overall, reviews for Squad show a high level of appreciation for its immersive gameplay and focus on teamwork, offering something unique in the realm of military simulators. However, persistent technical issues, and the game's dependency on team dynamics appear to be key challenges. Positive sentiments often revolve around the game's realism and community, whereas negative sentiments focus on optimization and bugs. The general sentiment is that Squad delivers a unique and engaging experience, marred somewhat by technical flaws.

Positive Points

Many players find Squad to offer an incredibly immersive experience, citing the sound design, teamwork, and large-scale battles as standout features.

The mod support, particularly for Galactic Contention, enhances gameplay and has been praised by a notable number of players.

Squad's blend between more accessible shooters and hardcore military simulators makes it appealing to those looking for both realism and teamwork without the overwhelming complexity of other milsim games.

The community aspect is a frequent highlight, with many reviews noting the presence of helpful and cooperative players, which enriches the game experience.

Negative Points

Frequent complaints about poor optimization, especially after the transition to UE5, leading to performance issues even on high-end PCs.

Players report persistent and numerous bugs, some of which have existed for years without resolution.

The game's reliance on a good squad leader and cooperative team is seen as a drawback, as it heavily influences the enjoyment and success in matches.

The lack of server availability and difficulties with joining games due to server issues or regional limitations is a common frustration.

Mixed Points

The game's steep learning curve is praised by some for adding depth but criticized by others for being a barrier to entry.

The military simulation aspect is both a draw and a point of contention; while some appreciate the realism, others find it cumbersome and frustrating.

Overall community experiences are mixed, with some players praising community involvement and others pointing to toxicity and management issues.

Common Themes

The importance of teamwork and communication is a recurring theme, with many players highlighting it as essential for enjoying Squad.

There is substantial division over the current state of the game post-UE5 update, with many players experiencing significant technical difficulties, while others have not faced such issues.

The comparisons to other games like Arma and Project Reality suggest that players often see Squad as a midpoint in terms of realism and gameplay complexity.
