The general sentiment towards Ace Combat 7 is broadly positive, with players highlighting its engaging arcade-style air combat, impressive graphics, and exceptional soundtrack. However, there are notable criticisms regarding the multiplayer experience and story depth. The game’s arcade nature garners mixed responses; while it enhances accessibility, some players dislike the lack of realism. Overall, while the game excels in many areas, certain elements such as DLC pricing and the story can divide player opinions.

Positive Points

The game is praised for its immersive and fun gameplay, particularly noted for its engaging air combat mechanics and a wide variety of aircraft.

Graphics and weather effects are highly appreciated, with many players describing them as stunning and adding to the immersion of the game.

The soundtrack receives high praise, often described as outstanding and enhancing the overall experience.

The game runs smoothly on various systems and is particularly compatible with controllers, which enhances the gameplay experience for many players.

Negative Points

Some players find the story to be confusing and not as engaging as previous entries in the series, with characters and plot development lacking depth.

Multiplayer is seen as a weak point, with issues such as imbalance, lack of depth, and occasional cheater presence affecting the experience.

The campaign missions are criticized for repetition and difficulty spikes, with time constraints and unclear objectives being common complaints.

The game lacks ultrawide screen support and proper HOTAS integration, which disappoints players looking for a more immersive flight simulation experience.

Mixed Points

Some players appreciate the arcade-style gameplay, while others criticize it for lacking realism, highlighting a divide in player preferences.

The story structure and character development are seen as superficial by some but are considered charming and fitting the series' tone by others.

The DLC content, while offering additional missions and aircraft, has been criticized for its pricing and perceived value, though some players find it enhances the game.

Common Themes

Nostalgia plays a significant role in players' perceptions, especially for those who have enjoyed previous Ace Combat titles.

Ace Combat 7’s arcade-style air combat and storytelling create a mix of emotions, attracting both new players and long-time fans.

The game’s visual and audio presentation, especially the weather system and soundtrack, is consistently highlighted as a key strength.

Players frequently mention the need for patience and skill development, especially concerning the controls and mission difficulties.
