Overall, the game receives a positive reception for its core loop of chaotic zombie-killing with friends, providing engaging but repetitive gameplay that captures the scale and spectacle of the World War Z film. The addition of classes and upgrade mechanics is well-received, although complaints about grindiness exist. There is significant criticism regarding AI quality and content paywalls, with the game's DLC structure being a barrier for some players. The general consensus suggests purchasing it on sale for the best value, especially if intending to access all content.
